Four color process -: This is
a full color printing process where Cyan, Magenta,
Yellow & blacK
(CMYK) is used to create a wide color spectrum
to print photographs, signs, banners, full color
brochures, books etc.
Spot color -: P.M.S printing of cards
High-speed ink jet -: Ink jet variable data on
a card
High speed encoding -: Personalizing data on the
magnetic stripe on cards for the card to have variable
information
Customized distribution -: Dropping shipping,
or sending directly to your customer or customers.
Barcoding -: Personalizing data with information
in a barcode for scanning information
Embossing -: (1) The raising of alphanumeric letters
for personalization of plastic card. Cards are
typically tipped with a foil for the easy application
of personalized information. (2) The raising of
alphanumeric letters and artwork above the surface
of some papers that produce a 3 dimensional look
and feel.
Foil Stamping -: Is the process in which a gold,
silver or other metallic foil is stamped in place
to give an elegant, classy feel to a design.
Flat printing -: Putting variable data with the
thermal printing of cards
Fulfillment -: packaging, shrink wrapping, attaching
cards to carrier, specific boxing or packaging
Magnetic striping -: A magnetic strip on the back
of a card that can be encoded with data for gift
cards loyalty cards and or hotel cards. (Same kind
of strip that is on the back of your credit card.)
Numbering -: The process of printing number on
a piece for tracking purposes.
Packaging -: Boxing, shrink-wrapping, palleting
for shipping etc.
Pin numbers -: Usually this is on prepaid cards
or promo cards, found under a scratch-off it is
a random number provided to us by the customer
usually associated with a control or consecutive
number
Scratch-offs -: Typically found on your marketing
piece, scratch and win promotions, phone cards
etc.
Tipping -: the application of foil over embossed
card (must be P.V.C.)
Commercial printing -: The typical printing of
all types of paper printing, flyers, brochures,
books, postcards etc.
Direct mailing -: Sending postcards, mail-out
pieces e.g. flyers, letters etc. directly to homes/business
by means of the Post Office
Bindery Services -: The process in which papers
are collated to make a pamphlet, book, booklet
etc. Folding, scoring and perforating.
